Last Ride of Fingolfin by ChrisMasna Last Ride of Fingolfin by ChrisMasna
Fingolfin, Supreme King of the Noldor in Beleriand, riding to Angband.

"Now news came to Hithlum that Dorthonion was lost and the sons
of Finarfin overthrown, and that the sons of Fëanor were driven from their
lands. Then Fingolfin beheld (as it seemed to him) the utter ruin of the
Noldor, and the defeat beyond redress of all their houses; and filled with
wrath and despair he mounted upon Rochallor his great horse and rode
forth alone, and none might restrain him. He passed over Dor-nu-Fauglith
like a wind amid the dust, and all that beheld his onset fled in amaze,
thinking that Oromë himself was come: for a great madness of rage was
upon him (...)"

^As written by Tolkien in 'The Silmarillion'. I prefer the spanish version for sure.

PS: His name in Quenya was Nolofinwë, or 'wise Finwë', and that's the writing in the upper left corner of the pic.

AFAIK no breastplates were mentioned in the Middle-Earth stuff. Most of technology seems to be based on Dark Ages.

Body armour would be either mail or scale or (in case of Haradrim) segmented.

Here is a list of the types used in books:

I wasn't aware of that, thank you! I'll try to fix it when I find the time to.

Nice to see that someone cares about the work of professor Tolkien :salute: .

I didn't even know about that stuff until I have read The Road To Middle Earth which was about the link between The Middle Earth and early English myths.

Interestingly, Ted Nasmith got it right from the beginning.
Check out his gallery:

Especially this picture:

The ships and the soldiers look like they are taken from the Bayeux Tapestry with slight modifications.
I haven't paid attention to such details when I was reading the books over a decade ago, but now I admire his consistency and attention to details.

Too bad that Steve Jackson wasn't like this...
