Description

Meg and her babies.

Yup, feather evidence in a megalosauroid www.amnh.org/science/papers/fe…

Edit 23/08/2015: The current consensus indicates Sciurumimus is a Coelurosaur, so this reconstruction remains as "speculative" rather than "likely".

And many thanks to :icondracontes: for the anatomical corrections and for helping me with the integument distribution.

Okay, this is my first critique:

VISION - Although Sciurumimus was indeed a feathered megalosauroid, it is also important to remember that it was a juvenile, not an adult. Consider me to be a little bit too traditional, but I'm sticking with scaled adult megalosauroids until I see evidence to the contrary. The babies you show, though, are incredibly cute and accurate ^ ^

If/when we find a feathered adult megalosauroid, consider this changed to a 5/5.

ORIGINALITY - As said before, I've only seen Sciurumimus as a feathered megalosauroid. I've never seen a depiction of Megalosaurus herself as feathered, so I'm giving you a high score here.

TECHNIQUE - My only complaint is the lack of any real background. I'm glad it's not white, but it would be really nice if there was some real scenery here.

IMPACT - This shows brilliantly how our understanding of dinosaurs has evolved since 1859 (compare this to your "vintage" Megalosaurus), notwithstanding anything I've said before.

Overall, I apologise if this seems too critical, but you still got over a 4/5 generally. Great job.
